Course Description


16 Hour Concealed Carry Class


After successful completion of this course, you will be eligible to carry in 37 states. If you choose, you will be able to apply for Illinois, Florida, & Arizona concealed carry permits. To view the complete list of states that will recognize these permits, click here:

Our courses generally run  Saturday & Sunday (8-hours each day).


The majority of the course takes place in a classroom setting with a short range qualification. All concealed carry courses include the necessary training materials and coffee is provided to students. 


The shooting range portion of the weekend class will usually take place on Sunday evening immediately following the classroom portion (Day 2).  A $25 range fee is to be paid in cash at the range and is separate from the class tuition. You will also need to use a firearm for this portion. If you do not have your own firearm, firearms can be rented for a small fee.  You will receive an e-mail confirmation with detailed instructions prior to your class date. Day 1 — Pistol Course
The student will develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude to safely possess and operate both pistols and revolvers.


 We will cover the following topics on Day 1:
1.) Firearm safety
a.) 4 basic firearm handling safety rules
b.) Home storage
c.) Vehicle storage
d.) Public Storage


2.) Basic principles of marksmanship
a.) Stance
b.) Grip
c.) Sight Alignment
d.) Sight Picture
e.) Trigger Control


3.) Care, cleaning, loading, and unloading of a concealable firearm
a.) Gun identification: revolver, semi-automatic, misc.
b.) Ammunition identification and selection
c.) Safety and cleaning protocols
d.) Cleaning equipment
e.) Loading and unloading


Day 2 – IL CCF "Laws" day.


Students will learn the applicable laws (State and Federal) concerning concealed carry firearms in IL. We will also cover conflict avoidance, proper mindset and situational awareness, holster and firearm selection options, drawing from the holster. This course is at least 8-hours long. We will cover the following topics in Day 2:


1.) All applicable State and Federal laws relating to the ownership, storage, carry, and transportation of a firearm.

1.) 430 ILCS 66/10(h) which includes instruction on the appropriate and lawful interaction with law enforcement while transporting or carrying a concealed firearm.


2.)With emphasis on 430 ILCS 66/65 which includes instruction on prohibited areas and the parking lot exception.
b.) The FOID Act 430 ILCS 65/1 et. seq.
c.) Relevant portions of the ILCS including but not limited to:


1.) 720 ILCS 5/7-1. Use of force in defense of a person


2.) 720 ILCS 5/7-2. Use of force in defense of dwelling


3.) 720 ILCS 5/7-3. Use of force in defense of other property


4.) 720 ILCS 24/1 et. seq. Unlawful Use of Weapons


5.) Definitions of dwelling, aggressor, forcible felony and unlawful use of weapons pursuant to the ILCS.

2.) Weapon Handling a.) Dry fire practice drills, handgun fundamentals
b.) Dry fire practice drills from concealment
c.) Live fire practice drills, handgun fundamentals. 


Live fire qualification with a concealable firearm consisting  of 30 rounds which must include 10 rounds from a distance of 5 yards; 10 rounds from a distance of 7 yards; and 10 rounds from a distance of 10 yards at a B-27 silhouette target approved by the Illinois State Police.

Are you eligible for an Illinois Concealed Carry permit?
The answer is “yes” as long as:


1.) You are at least 21 years old.


2.) You are able to obtain a FOID card.


3.) You do not have 2 or more violations related to driving while under the influence of alcohol, other drugs, or intoxicating compounds within the last 5 years.


4.) You are not subject to a pending arrest warrant, prosecution or proceeding for an offense or action that could lead to disqualification to own or possess a firearm.


5.) You have not been in residential or court-ordered treatment for alcoholism, alcohol detoxification, or drug treatment within the past 5 years.


6.) You may be eligible if you satisfy the above and no objections are filed by law enforcement.


Are you eligible for a FOID card?
The answer is “yes” as long as:


1.) You have never been convicted of a felony.


2.) In the past 5 years, you have not been a patient in any medical facility or part of any medical facility used primarily for the care or treatment of persons for mental illness.


3.) You are not addicted to narcotics.


4.) You are not mentally handicapped.


5.) You are not subject to an existing order of protection which prohibits you from possessing a firearm.


6.) Within the past 5 years, you have not been convicted of battery, assault, aggravated assault, violation of an order of protection, or a substantially similar offense in which a firearm was used or possessed.


7.) You have never been convicted of domestic battery or a substantially similar offense (misdemeanor or felony).


8.) You have never been adjudicated a delinquent minor for the commission of an offense that if committed by an adult would be a felony.


9.) You are not an alien who is unlawfully present in the United States.10.) You have never been adjudicated as a mental defective.
